Where to place domain location---What country is best for e-commerce,

Hello Website professionals and IT folks,

My name is Shen and I work in E-commerce and International Trading.
I want to create a website for the long-term selling of certain Brand name products and items. But the problem is that there are certain conflicts of interests that could occur in the future between our site and corperate entities, so it is possible my website could get taken down very soon. So it might not be in my best interest to created the domain in the United States of America. My question is: In what countries (in your opinions) are best to created and situate a domain website so that we can avoid these potential problems? I want to look for a country whose regulations and laws forbid the take down of such websites.

For example: The site Piratebay.org lets you download files and movies. It is located in Sweden, so as a result untouchable(so far) by corporate and government powers. If piratebay.org was in the US, it might be a problem and get taken down pretty fast. So anyone familiar with country domain regulations and laws or have similar experience with this?

So idealy we would want such a location to place our e-commerce domain at. Any suggestions, inputs? :):)

Hi Shen.Bellini. Welcome to SitePoint.

To be honest, it sounds like you are doing something illegal here. That does not sound like a good business model to be basing your work on. The forums here are not meant to be a place where we help you get away with dodgy activites. Can you assure us that this is above board and that I’ve just read your post the wrong way?

If you are talking about what domain extension you should get for best e-Commerce, I suggest a .com. Dot com’s are commercial enough to make it be the best place for commerce success.

Our business structure and operation is perfectly fine with all commercial regulations and laws.
Counterfeited merchandise is illegal, but the re-selling of (genuine) brand name merchandise is not illegal under United States regulations by any means. We have seen this kind of business everyday on sites like eBay and Amazon. But Companies like Chanel and La’ Mer just dislike these kinds of activities(even though legal) because it conflicts with their personal interests. And because of that, they will try to cause some trouble and we might have to have it taken down just because they are a larger company. We just want to work under the conditions of the safest environment for us as possible and to make it harder for them to act against us. Any opinions, suggestions?

Any suggestions, advice anyone?

We have a two person team working on the website every day and I just to make sure it is situated in the best possible location both for substitutability and e-commerce.

Any inputs is appreciated greatly.:):)

Thank for tha0t input. So .coms are best huh? We thought that was true as well. Now we are sure.

I feel that, India is the best location for domain name registration. I have heard about bigraja. It is the best one e-commerce. Recently bigraja become famous in e-commerce. “BigRaja is a fully integrated eCommerce solution offering quickest (5 mins to set up), easiest (as easy as opening an email account)and cheapest( INR 299 per month fee, ALL inclusive) eCommerce websites to Indian entrepreneurs”. On 8th, I read this news. I feel that, this information is helpful for you. For more details search in Google.

So you feel India is a place for e-commerce, huh? What are some of the benefits for having the domain in India? I would imagine having a fast growing online sales sectors is a great benefit. What about the regulations and laws concerning government and corporations involvement with websites?

Another note what is everybody’s thoughts on China?

You could perhaps try the Bahamas. DirectNIC and Internet.BS are “supposedly” domiciled there. (at least that’s where their addresses are listed…)
