What is the Skyscraper technique and how does it help with getting more backlinks?

Experts advice to become a blogger to get fast and backlinks for your site. Somehow I agree with recently I was reading on an article about Skyscraper technique. That was a new way for me and I not sure how does it help with getting more backlinks? Its a technique that involves creating better versions of existing popular content. Is it worthy? How does this technique work and what are the benefits of using it for generating more backlinks to your website?

“Do it better”.

I mean, it’s a technique. If you can do it better, do it better, and the people who look for better content will find and link to your site (the whole… asking people to change their links bit is a bit skeevy if you ask me, but i’m not an SEO expert and noone’s ever asked me to change my links).

However.

Don’t copy someone else’s work, slap a “I wuz here” banner on top and call it your own “improved” work. That’s not doing it better.

Yeah I agree do it better and even we can say do it differently. Only purpose to write an existing content is if can describe a new angle, a new perspective, a new value proposition for the same topic. It’s about creating something that stands out from the crowd and attracts attention. It’s about making something that people want to link to, not because they have to, but because they want to. I am thinking to get more stuff about this.

That’s one way to view it, yeah.

That said, I dont know that i call that “a technique” so much as it is “what everyone should be doing”?
It’s kind of like saying “I want to drive my car down the street; my technique is to push the accelerator.” So i’m not sure why it has a fancy name like the Skyscraper technique.

EDIT: Though, having typed that, my brain responded to that thought by saying “because its SEO, and everything needs buzzwords in SEO”.

Well, I guess you have a point there. Calling it a technique does make it sound more fancy and complicated than it really is. Maybe we should call it something else, like the Elevator method, or the Ladder approach, or the Stairway to heaven strategy. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But seriously, I think the reason why it has a name like the Skyscraper technique is because it helps to visualize the goal and the process of creating and promoting high-quality content that surpasses the existing ones. It’s not just about pushing the accelerator, but also about steering the wheel, changing the gears, and avoiding the obstacles. It’s about reaching new heights and standing out from the crowd. It’s about making something that people want to see and share. It’s way too serious to generate such content already at good heights rather than posting something new and genuine. If you are honest with doing something different and to share more updates about existing content. But if somebody is just trying to chase the fame a content is already having, then your point is absolutely right.

That’s a shame at this point for writers and for professionals.

I wonder if anyone here has tried the Skyscraper technique personally and can share their experience and results. Maybe someone who has reached new heights and stood out from the crowd.

Anyone???

No one? so I will be first person who is pondering…
