What is shared and VPS hosting?

Hi friends,

I want to know that What is shared and VPS hosting ?

There are various differences, such as price, speed and security. What have you found out so far in your research? We wouldn’t want to repeat info you don’t need to hear.

Shared hosting - a server is shared by many users - so a lot of domains on those server.
A vps hosting - a server is only used by a few users. The domains many be also many, but considering that not anyone can buy one, you are in a better secured placed with more resources.

With VPS hosting each account runs in its own virtual machine - so it looks the same as dedicated hosting (where you have the entire server) except that you are still sharing the actual resources with a handful of other users who are sharing the same hardware via their own virtual machine.

Shared Hosting is a popular term for “Virtual Hosting”. It means that a number of directories of a server (computer) to share its resources (CPU, RAM, HDD). Tehre are 2 types of Shared Hosting - Name-based and IP-based. These virtual hosts are in the same OS.

VPS stands for Virtual Private Server, which means that there is a virtualization technology installed on a physical machine. It allows for creating separate environments. So there are different OS and different isolated (private) instances.

Shared hosting is Website hosting wherein the service provider serves pages for multiple Web sites, each having its own Internet domain name, from a single Web server.

VPS hosting gives you a web server’s hardware to share with others without sharing the software. This enables you to have a complete root control over the server as if it was your own dedicated server
