Web Designer, Graphic Designer, Interaction Designer, Usability Designer, Ux, UI

This day in age it seems like they have some new title for ever aspect of design out there! To me I feel a well-rounded web designer has traits of all the above.

I’ve been sniffing around job posts lately online, and there is this huge push for interaction/usability design. I would think the backbone of any good web designer’s work starts with good design principlies and layout which essentially turns into a “usable” web site.

I know there are nuances between all the above titles, but it seems disappointing to me, that it would be harder to get an “interaction” design job, when every one of my websites is built around usability and how a user interacts with it.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?

I am a web designer.

I can design graphics, it’s just I code and deal with servers most of the time. Our job is so big it had to be divided into subsets. Usable websites are more to do with text readability and colour scheming. In my opinion any web designer would need to have some of the above traits in order to nowadays qualify as a web designer.

One of my website is mainly done to look pretty  so it’s mainly a graphics designers job, another of the sites is more to do with usability and readability, so it’s a UX job. It would be good if somebody here was to clearly explain each of the roles so we could fully understand.
