Issue 1: I have a problem getting the animation to display correctly. Please help -

Issue 2. www.sgdr.co.uk/about.html doesn’t display correctly on a mobile phone. Please help.

Hi Shona. Where’s your CSS? We need that to see what’s not working.

Can you explain what is not displaying correctly on mobile?

I should have thought you can do away with the second link to the home page on your mobile menu for one thing, and personally the font seems rather small for mobile.

It’s the animation on the home page that doesn’t display on the mobile.

On every other page the footer appears at the top with the menu when viewed on a mobile and I would like it to remain at the bottom of the page!

@Puzzle1: when you post code here, you need to format it so that it will display correctly.

You can highlight your code, then use the </> button in the editor window, which will format it, or you can place three backticks ``` (top left key on US/UK keyboards) on a line before your code, and three on a line after your code. I find this approach easier, but unfortunately some European and other keyboards don’t have that character.

I thought when I first loaded the page that something odd happened to the pics but it doesn’t appear to happen if I reload the page. It may just have been the size of the website and the time it took to download.

One thing on the first image you have inline CSS style="width:50" - you’re missing a % sign. However, rather than using CSS to resize the images in the browser you would be better resizing them to whatever size you need for the page and then optimising them (see below).

you will see that you can save a lot of KB by optimising the images.

If you’re not using all of that CSS you could remove what you don’t need - it’s a large file for CSS.

Many thanks for your reply. I’ve optimized my images, but they don’t display correctly on a mobile phone - they appear quashed. The footer also appears at the top when you view on a mobile! I don’t know what CSS I need from the w3.css file as I thought it would be easier as it’s all done for me. I thought of using Bootstrap for the website, but then looking at changing the navigation bar and text colours is very daunting. This is the second and last website I’m doing as both the Scottish Great Dane Club and Scottish Great Dane Rescue are both free. I have very little experience, and very much appreciate that you have taken the time to respond and point me the right direction. Any other tips or suggestions welcomed.

Since I’ll be working with what you have now, can you please describe how close to finished your site is? and if not finished, what you plan to add?

I am asking so I can minimize the likelihood of breaking something that you will need.

Next, it looks like your site was designed on a full 1920x1080 desktop monitor with little planning given to mobile devices. With the understanding that I have not looked around much yet, have you given any thought to other layouts? For example, the images are distorting because of the way they are coded. If they keep their aspect ratio they must shrink uness the layout is changed (the expected approach) which means something has to shift.

I think you had larger images at one time. Can I find those larger images online? at your site, perhaps?

There are a few more paragraphs of text here and there to add, along with 2 contact forms (which I can’t get working) and really that’s it. I stupidly thought that ‘w3-mobile’ was all I needed. Happy to change layout. The only image that must remain is the dog with the Scottish flag - and yes I agree before you say it, along with PayPal and standing order mandate. The site owner also likes the clouds as a background.
Don’t worry about breaking it. I do that on a daily basis trying to get things right :slight_smile: I have the original images before any editing if I could send you those?

Unfortunately, that is a common misconception so you’re not alone by a long shot.

The easiest way to make the images available would be to put them in a temporary directory and give me the URL to the directory and the names of the images. I’ll probably download all of them right away and you can then delete the temp directory.
