Universal Page width using umbraco

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could assist please.

We are re-creating our company website and the agency we are using recommends using a 950 pixel width for our content. I am wanting full width page size for our content.
They are saying:
"This is the most universally recognised maximum content width that is guaranteed to be viewable across multiple browsers and resolutions.
The images and/or site background colours resize depending on the users screen resolution but the content will always be visible within this 950px window."

To my knowledge, if sites are responsive, the page width wouldn’t make much of a difference as this would resize and fit any devices screen and browser?

Could anyone please advise.

Thank you in advance

You’re right. But that can be said about minimum width. Maximum width I would limit anyway. It’s hard to read text with 100% width when your display is 1920 (or more) pixels wide. This forum uses 1100px max width and it looks good on my 1920x1080 resolution.

“This forum uses 1100px max width and it looks good on my 1920x1080 resolution.”

This would be content width?

This is just the main idea - 100% width may be not so good for very wide displays.
But actual value will depend on your own design and layout, of course.

Thanks Megazoid.

Appreciate it.
