Hi
I have a client who wants to include a vehicle identification check on their site. They want a user to be able to enter their registration number return the details (make, model, engine size etc) for use in an enquiry form.
I contacted the DVLA about using this information and was told:
The DVLA provides Anonymised Vehicle Data to certain HPI type companies under contract who provide a service to the public and dealerships when the purchase of a vehicle is being considered. An indication of price for this service is between £8,000 and £9,000 per month. Companies who apply for this dataset must be able to meet “reasonable cause” under the provision of Regulation 27 of the Road Vehicle (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002. In this context the Agency is prepared to release data in bulk to underpin vehicle check databases to which the public and others may refer to improve road safety, to aid consumer protection and to deter vehicle theft.
Is there another way to achieve this as obviously those costs are a little bit on the steep side!
Something similar to the way these sites allow you to check vehicle information would be ideal:
I have been searching for a while so thanks for any help with this.
