Transfering from wordpress to wordpress

I have a site http://www.boitproductions.wordpress.com and am switching it to http://www.boitproductions.com

I’ve been told I can transfer this easily using the export function in the wordpress control panel but I want to check this is possible as the new site is using a new theme. So can I just transfer the old blog to the new one this way even though the new one is using a different theme?

The theme is stored in a folder on the server - it is not stored in the database. Therefore changing the theme has no effect on anything else and you can transfer the database the same way regardless of which theme is used in each place.
