Telepathy

Moss: “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”

Haha. Makes me think about the decepticons in Transformations 1 when they hacked pentagon with a self mutating and self evolving computer virus. Yayks!

[FONT=“Georgia”]Never saw that one, although I tend to avoid Keanu Reeves’ movies.

Well, this is funny. I was supposed to say Transformers not Transformations. That’s weird, lol.

If any implants are developed by Microsoft, will they also need to provide appropriate pressure pads to allow us to do the Microsoft 3-fingered salute?

For the hard-of-thinking …

Obviously it will be a technology that will be used more in the future to harness the power of brain signals to interact-with devices or for medical solutions for damaged bodies.

Though evaluating whether recording all our ‘live experiences’ on a implanted chip for diagnostic purposes; could be considered sensible, would be another matter for discussion.

Simple solution.

The chip will take commands from the brain and return information by images and sounds - like a computer inside your head.

Now, if your computer (the one you’re looking at now) gets a virus you don’t die, do you. If you control your car it doesn’t start controlling you. One way systems can be rather secure. It’s just a case of finding how that could work from inside the mind.

Imagine the possibilities. The biggest drag factor in computing (on a fast enough computer) is the human factor - typing has a maximum speed, then there are typos. No need for a calculator… ever. Your brain would just google it. No need to wonder why something works how it does, you could just google it in your head.

I can’t wait for that. SEO via mind control.

If I do not find something I want in my room, my brain hits F3 - a real frequent thing.
And I become sad because, it does not help me right now until I am tired of searching, moving the things around.

Auto-Brain enabled devices - would they still serve us, if they couple themselves and go on dating when you need them?

But still you would be able to locate them

[FONT=“Georgia”]Damn, you’re right! That’s crazy!

As far as I know, no one was able to send thoughts to someone with brainwaves.

I can’t see people implanting anything into themselves, except if they have some sort of disability (it exists), or if the implant was some sort of human id (been suggested already, and one guy who had it, got his id infected with a virus).

As I see it, people will not use implants, ever. Maybe they will use organic phone implants, but definitely not the electronic ones, because that would make buying a new one much too troublesome and expensive.

And we all know that electronics update much faster every day.

I say, portable telepathic network device all the way.

I guess that means I can use other browsers too in my minds view then.

Seriously though, I think you got a point but if that ever happens, that would destroy each individual’s uniqueness or creativity. There’s no need for learning anymore, only upgrading and installations or whatever.

I disagree, you still learn, but more along the lines of “how to use the obtained information” instead of “how to obtain the information”

Exactly. The information one possesses doesn’t make them unique; It just means they need to use google a little less.

And its not as if this thing will be mandatory, or even available within the general public’s pricerange. But imagine what would happen if, for example, all of the top physicists at Cern could collaborate online at any time, with no time delay. What if they could view simulations and also run simulations of their predictions and view them in dual in real time - in their minds.

The whole thing gets rid of the need for watches. For phones. For computers. For TVs. For physical GPS devices. For DVDs, CDs, radios. It also gives the nutcases/homeopathists/conspiracy theorists something else to get worked up about.

I think to see dream is also related to telepathy. In human begin system ability of telepathy is embedded.

You make an on target point here… and an interesting notion of telepathy, though for me I would question people’s desire to have an implant when they could have a clearly visible fashion wealth status symbol semi-permanently attached to their person… I’m not immune to such postulation I freely admit, but the issue is do we want faster connections? Could it be that telegrams will be come the new vintage fashion for our children…? :eye:
