Technical term for Unlimited traffic

I am taking an example of Amazon.com:

On the Christmas, there is immense shopping and their server gets loads of traffic per minute or per seconds that means 100’s and 1000’s of visitors in a flash. so what is the technical term for such servers who can handle countless of traffic/seconds?

Is this is what measured by unmetered bandwidth?

Hosting company that makes such claims do they really provides such traffic or what is the norm to check that this hosting company can handle such traffic?

I hope I am able to put my question correctly. If not please let me know what else I need to provide to make my questions comprehensible to everyone.

Infinitely scalable?
