Superscript CSS formatting lost in my RSS's xml feed

I use superscript when referencing footnotes on my blog’s RSS feed. They render absolutely fine on the website, but appear as normal unformatted text when viewed from a RSS reader.

<a href=#fn:reviews rel=“footnote” class=“footnote-link footnote-identifier-link” title=“Footnote goes here.”>1</a>

I copied the “footnote-link” and “footnote-identifier-link” classes from other sites whose RSS feeds retain the superscript formatting. But that was probably naive as that didn’t do the trick.

For clarity, this is what it looks like from my website (http://www.mtrostyle.net/correct.png) and this from a RSS reader (http://www.mtrostyle.net/incorrect.png).
Can anyone let me know what I need to do to correct this?
Many thanks.
