What kind of animation are you thinking of? You can use CSS3 to make all sorts of animations.
I would like to create animated images/logos as a gif so that I could easily use the image in email campaigns and to embed in my website.
I just did a quick search and there seem to be quite a few free online services where you can convert a video clip or a series of images to a GIF file. If you want something more sophisticated, you might have a look at Gimp, which is also free.
