Maybe create index will help?
This is a bit advance for me I am used to work with simple queries!

You would have gotten a correct answer much sooner if you had done as requested much earlier in the thread. Posting the SHOW CREATE TABLE for your actual table(s) it would have been obvious that you were missing an index (or more).
The more you assist those attempting to help you the sooner you can be fixed and on your way.
Something to consider for the next time you post.
as well, geonameid should be PRIMARY KEY
