Spanish Translation for SEO

For an immigration attorney website, I have questions about english-vs-spanish on their website for SEO purposes.

Obviously they want their site to get found when someone does english or spanish google searches for their practice areas. Do you suggest any one of the following over the other?

A. They only need the site built in English. It is not necessary to build a spanish version because google is smart enough and will rank them accordingly when someone does a google search in spanish.

B. We just need to at least add some sort of translate plugin/feature to the site to give visitors an easy translation method.

C. For SEO, it’s best to replicate every page in spanish within the site.

D. Something else

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

It would be better to include as much Spanish keywords as possible.

If you have not enough money to order professional translation you should ask students or someone else, but never use machine translation.

To the best of my knowledge, Google returns results for whichever language is set in user preferences, although if the query is made in a different language, it may show results for both. I suppose it’s possible that they might return English results if no Spanish matches can be found, but I wouldn’t want to rely on that. If any of your competitors have dual-language sites, I’d say they would be far more likely to appear in the results for Spanish searches.

After all, what good is it for a search engine to return results in a language the searcher may not speak?
