Safari mac won't show cursor pointer

No it just shows the default cursor for me in safari. Occasionally the hand shows but most of the time its not there.

I did all my original tests in a stripped down page anyway

What? That’s weird. Are you testing on a Mac Paul? I assume you have the latest safari. If so its hardware dependent too then.

lol. So if my bookmarks sidebar is engaged then the pointer works. If the bookmark sidebar is minimized (slid back in) then the pointer goes away. I give up. That redic

Yes its a top of the range 27" imac (about 3 years old). I upgraded to Yosemite a couple of weeks ago.

Yes I think its just a weird bug with no logic.

I did look at some other flash sites in safari and there was one that had some text links on top of the flash and the pointer worked but there were no actual links in the flash itself which I’m guessing is where the problem lies.

If you change the display of the object on hover to display block or table then it seems to make it work. But the object flashes/resets so thats no good.

Try searching for some flash sites that have links on top and see if you can find one that’s working and then maybe de-construct it, I tried looking but had no luck at finding any flash examples that had links in them and links on top.

I even tried shimming an iframe over the top of the flash and under the link as per the old IE6 trick but that was no more successful than my other methods. (Maybe shimming another non linked flash object over the flash object would work!)

Changing it to an image is the easiest fix as you mentioned prob. I would do that but I would have to make like 20 diff images to cater for the “current” page indicater for each page. Thats not practicle. No worries I’m going to let this flow from my head. I refuse to give it another thought. lol

lol - Knowing you I bet you don’t.
