However it seems like it ignores them completely, when zooming in the form overlaps the gallery images, which shouldn’t happend and it works fine in any other browsers.
Any idea why is it not working?

If you mean safari 5.1 on Windows then that is a dead (dis-continued) browser and not supported any more. It shouldn’t be used as a guide to anything because it is very old and buggy and no one apart from you uses it.
Safari on the mac is version 8 now and handles zoom ok (although I believe some browsers still have problems with media queries in ems and a refresh is required).
