Reducing the spacing between the text element in the top navigation using CSS

Trying to reduce the space between the navigation elements in the top Nav with css so the text is closer to each other, I can’t work out what to change to make it work. I want to increase the size of the text which is straight forward but it makes everything run round. Any help much appreciated.

Site is http://leadsheet.co.uk/

The space is created with padding left and right in this rule:

.nav__menu > li {
    float: left;
    padding: 8px 15px;
    position: relative;
}

Just reduce the 15px to make the space smaller/
