Font looking different in <pre></pre> tags

Hi I’ve been using the <pre></pre> tags lately to display data stored in a db. I noticed that the texts displayed within these tags are somehow different from the rest of the sites. It looks a bit smaller. I would even find that the font is a bit different. Is it just me? Using IE6 by the way.

and font still works in all browsers. All I’m doing is forcing pre-/pre to font-/font size.
