I made a post on this last year, but wanted to tell the new guys around here that you can change the color scheme of your code editor in VS. So far, this is the best resource I've found:

I chose Selenitic.

I really don’t understand why someone would use some of those. It’s like they purposely want to fatigue their eyes.
I’ve been using a theme from there for a while now. It’s called “Pretty”. Yeah, I know … pink, but it’s soft on the eye.
Pretty much use the defaults with a few light tweaks to highlight string literals, operators and numbers.
