Php version with WP

I have installed WP version 3.0.1 with php version (1) and want to install new version(2) as following:
1.Current Version
PHP: Version 4.3.3
Perl: Version 5.8.0
API Php MySQL: Version 4.0.15a

2New Version
PHP: Version 5.2.5
Perl: Version 5.8.8
API Php MySQL: Version 5.0.45

will it effect my website and web content?

Version 2 sounds much closer to what Wordpress is currently designed to work with so any impact of the change should be improved processing times.

But, I am scared that it may down my website. If I take back up of wp-content
folder and database and install new version of php and then reload it. Will my website work properly?

Thanks

Yes that would be the safest way. Of course you really ought to have done that two years ago when PHP 4 was declared to be dead.

Ha ha ha, you are right sir, In fact, I am working for a company who develops websites and there was one website that I redeveloped in wordpress and that was developed in php 5 years ago. I am brand new guy in web development specialy in open source technology. I was working in ASP.NET.

Thanks for your kind support
