You can choose the easy way : import the content of your website in a CMS and then choose the right application which manages with themes and design. Of course, knowing HTML or CSS would be a great help for you, it would give you the possibility to manipulate things from “backstage” whenever your needs are not fulfilled by an interactive application. As a web designer, i would suggest you go this way, unless coding languages really interest you. But it might take a lot of time and effort. There are a lot of desktop or online applications which generate wordpress themes, and you might be surprised how flexible they are in terms of design. I am currently using Lubith for my WP site and I am more than satisfied with it.
