Novice To Ninja Ch3 Ex 9

Like many on this forum, I am slowly working through the book, but have got stuck at Chapter 3 Exercise 9. I can’t seem to get the background image called the “blob” to show.

I note that the code in the book and the exercise file are completely different. I am assuming that the exercise file is more up to date, but can’t get either to work.

The navigation wobbles as expected, just no background image.

I am using jquery-1.6.4 - could that be the problem? The exercise files are using 1.4.
I downloaded jquery.easing.1.2.js, though the exercise files are using 1.3, but didn’t seem to be available at the jquery downloads page.

No use displaying my code, as in the end, out of desperation, I copied and pasted the exercise file.

Any ideas for me??

Hi Vicki, this does seem to be a problem with newer versions of jQuery, and it has been discussed here before—without being fully resolved, I’m afraid!

Thanks for that. I didn’t find that link when I searched, must have just overlooked it.

If I remove “hide”, yes it works, but the background on home is there when the page opens and stays on the last link hovered over. Perhaps I can find another way once I learn jquery better.
