I am trying to learn CSS the proper way but currently use Dreamweaver CS5 now, can all types of CSS be done in the CSS panel in Dreamweaver or would i need to learn everything from the style sheets.
I currently use the CSS panel to make all my sites and find it a bit limiting but its all know and was though this way in college.
any ideas, advice?
want to move onto php later on but now just concentrating on making good usable sites with CSS and XHTML.

Hi,
It doesn’t matter which version of DW (or any other editor), it is not going to teach you CSS. That is something you have to learn from the specs. It will take commitment and determination on your part as you apply yourself.
Everyone would agree with Rayzur that Dreamweaver won’t teach you CSS. I don’t see how it’s a problem if you use the code editor. If you start to see yourself using the visual editor, then maybe it would be a good idea to switch to something like Notepad ++. Take a look at this video HERE and see how he uses Dreamweaver. He’s a professional web designer and really knows his stuff. Many forum users are pretty adamant about not using it at all. But as you can see in the video, it does come in handy as a tool.
thanks but its more learning CSS and XHTML that i cant seem to remember so i just fall back on using Dreamweaver stuff.
any good vids on youtube that teach css easily as in college we was told to use the Dreamweaver way as its much easier.
Yes, and this is why I told you that if you find yourself going back to Dreamweaver’s Visual Editor, then it’s probably time to move to something like Notepad++. And it appears now after reading this reply of your’s, that this is a problem for you. It’s like an overweight person who’s trying to lose weight, but still hasn’t cleaned out his cabinets yet. Guess what? Until those cabinets have been cleaned out and replaced with nutritious foods, he’s going to keep going back to eat those potato chips and cookies.
I don’t know of any good YouTube channels as it applies to CSS only. SitePoint does have a channel on there, though. However, there are plenty of good books available. The Head First books in particular are very repetitious so that the information sinks in. They also use images a lot to help you learn. No dry text in these books.
