Is SCSS worth it?

I actually do not dislike them, but know them well enough to tell where you might be abusing them. Like with everything, power must come with responsibility, and you should know where is best to implement a tool or a feature or it might come back and bite you. CSS mastery is always about keeping things simple and tidy, be it with pre-processors or not.

You should be so fortunate. I have not had the opportunity to make those choices for myself.

Learn CSS FIRST, and like… know it know it. Then Sass would definitely be the way to go. Most big companies use them and while some things now are KIND of used now, from a code organization level, functions, mixins.

I notice much the same. To be fair designers (for the most part) aren’t developers so to them its just over complex. I can think of one who learned it so he could understand better the hows/whys of the way we structure things.
