IE8 teaser

These two pages
http://pintotours.net/Europe/Spain/CrowneBcn.html
http://pintotours.net/Asia/Indonesia/SantikaCity.html

have the same stylesheet and the html in question is identical.

Yet, in IE8, in the box in the left sidebar “Travel Secrets” the bottom of the border gets cut off in the second link and I have to increase the height to accommodate it. So, I know the answer, but can’t understand the difference.

The SantikaCity.html link is not opening for me. The Barcelona is though.

Hy Ryan

I open it directly from the forum’s post without any trouble. Could you try again. plaese?

Thanks

I’m sorry, still no.

Can anyone else chime in?

Works for me… I wonder if there is something on there that is blocked by your DoD job (stupid job!)

Workaround:

Go to http://pintotours.net, click on Bali or Jakarta in the globe. Once in one of those pages click on any of the buttons “look Inside” . Copy the url of the popup, and paste it in the address bar.

Hi

What do you mean by DoD?

I’ve normally never had trouble getting to his website. If DoD was blocking it they’d simply block it instead of timing out.

I get as far as clicking “Look Inside”. That popup never loads (times out.) The URL is still set to “about:blank”.

I work for the Department of Defense as a web developer.

Oh, I remember… CIA…

Try this link: http://pintotours.net/Asia/Indonesia/ConradBali.html

Try placing it in a different directory or something. Your website is loading, just not certain directories. Throw a random test page up on your root directory.

Ok, try this:

http://pintotours.net/Zork/AAA/SantikaCity.html

Make this page please…
http://pintotours.net/Europe/Spain/CrowneBcn2.html

Sorry, Ryan

I’m not with you… The pages related to the Barcelona page are fine. The problem is with the ones connected to the Indonesian pages even if the css is the same.

Please note that I can solve the problem easily by increasing the height of normal1 in the css. What I need is an explanation, if possible, of why this is happening, if the code is identical.

Perhaps wait for @PaulOB to come. I will arrive home in 2.5 hours so I can look then if noone else has stepped in. Perhaps it is just my network being silly.

Thanks.

It is neither urgent nor important. Just a puzzle I would like to understand.

Is the amount of content equal?

Hi Nittineague

Yes! the sidebars are identical. Well… the top box has a different destination name, that’s all: Jakarta instead of Barcelona. And… the image for Barcelona is taller

Hi if you look at the two pages in the first post of the thread you can see the sample pages I gave. They have the same css and the bit of html code in question is identical. So, why should they be different?

One page is from the Barcelona page and all sunbsidiary pages are ok. The othe rpage is from the Jakarta page and here and in the Bali one all pages have the same defect.

Strange…

It looks like the top of “threedivs” is somehow interfering with the bottom of “normal1” in the Indonesia page but I can’t see what’s different from the Spain page.

Can you post the HTML from that page @Mittineague and double check that the CSS files are the same?

I can just make a local copy of hte page. I’m bored here at work; nothing to do for another 50 minutes.
