Can you or anyone explain why IE releases are so monument in comparison to the others. Meaning, all my others pretty much auto update. I don’t even pay attention to what number they are. IE does not do that. My only guess is because they tie them with OS’s.
It has to do with the release cycle being years rather than weeks or months.
IE6 was in 2001, IE7 in 2006, IE8, in 2009, IE9, in 2011, IE10, 2012/2013.
And with each update, operating systems are left behind, so we still have to support older versions of IE for older operating systems since Microsoft won’t update them.
