I want an e-ink monitor...but it is so expensive

I really want an e-ink monitor but virtually nobody makes them except for this company i just found https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/paperlike-world-s-first-e-ink-monitor-13-3#/
I can’t understand why they aren’t much more popular with so many people using computers at work. I would love to get one but i can’t afford the $895 (~£686) price tag. I need them to come down to about £200 before i can justify the expense.

Is it just me or do other people on here think they would be great for a second display for coding? I don’t need colour or fast refresh rate for 90% of what i am doing.

I have considered hardware hacking a kindle but they are too small.

How would this monitor differ from an inexpensive anti-glare film?

normal monitors emit light, e-ink does not. E-ink is black and white. Haven’t seen a b/w led monitor or been able to replicate.

Haven’t tried an anti-glare film to be honest. could be worth a shot but most of the time i’ve ever seen or used a film/screen in front of a monitor it has added an extra level of optical distortion. will have a look at some options.

Are there any that you can recommend?

thanks

Not seen those before. Nice idea, got to be better for the mince-pies :eyes:. But who is going to pay that for a 13" B&W monitor? Not I.
I don’t understand why the are so expensive.
