I dont understand this accident about McDonalds pay $800K to a family

Do you really believe that an attorney would take a case for free of a person intentionally doing something to themself? To be clear, the plaintiff and the defendant would be the same person.

I am asking in general, if someone has small issue and can not hire a lawyer what would be the available options ?

If someone cannot afford a lawyer, the best way is to be direct with the other party or file a complaint with the government agency such as the Federal Trade Commission etc.

In Germany if a child would burn his tong on a hot meal, the parents will tell him “Now you learned something!”.
Isn’t it the fault of the customer if he is too stupid to know that cooked food might be hot?

Sorry I can only shake my head about such a stupid law system like it is in USA.

Hi, I respect your opinion, but I think the jury and the family deserve respect too. The child was burned by a very hot nugget that McDonald’s and the franchise owner did not warn about. The child has lasting scars and pain. The jury gave the family less money than they asked for. I think this is about justice and safety, not stupidity or greed.

Several times I read that mother leave child in the car locked or in house while she go shopping for long time but with the heat and long time the child is gone it is very painful.

Well this is very irresponsible behaviors. I even can’t imagine what pain and feeling those child must have suffered during such incidents. No child deserves to be suffered like that. :disappointed_relieved:

and in the US, there’s a moderate chance said mother will come back to find her car window smashed in, and at least 2 of the three emergency services there, at least one of which will want to talk to said mother back at their station…

Children’s safety should be the first priority of parents. Children are vulnerable and depend on their parents for protection and care. Parents have a responsibility to ensure that their children are safe and healthy at all times. I think that’s a basic duty of parenthood.
