Which pages are good from search engine point of view and why? Please help.
You should only be using HTTPS when you need secure transmission of data, not at any other time. Whether you use HTTP or HTTPS is unlikely to have any bearing on search engines.
HTTPS is something you DO NOT want the common person to see. A secure area for members or buyers of your site.
Not quite true, the HTTPS is simply the protocol used to securely transmit the data between the browser and the server - the actual pages are plainly visible to anyone - it’s the data that’s passed between them that is prevented from being made visible.
I don’t think it will impact on sites ranking…
Agree with the previous post. Search engines doesn’t bother about http & https. HTTP is a protocol used to transfer & receive data in internet. Https is the safest way to communicate in internet. Read, the article which explains the difference between them in Wise Geek.
That would be like asking if cars or trucks are better forms of transport. Both serve different purposes and so one cannot always be substituted for the other. Therefore there is no reason why search engines should make any distinction (unless they were to penalise http when https is more appropriate and penalise https where http is more appropriate).
Hi,
As per my knowledge it will never effect in search engine. HTTP is non secured but HTTPS is secured protocol. Most website with high security uses HTTPS. For example Bank websites, Online payment websites etc.
HTTP and HTTPS both are used for date transmission over the web, main difference between them is HTTP is not a secure protocol so data transmit through HTTP is not secure whereas HTTPS is a protocol with secure socket layer so it provide secure transmission. Both which is important for search engine is depends on application or transaction which is being occur.
The Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is a protocol, that means it concentrate on how information is display to the user of the computer but doesn’t care a whit about how data receive from Point A to Point B. It is stateless, that means it doesn’t try to commend anything about the previous Web session. This is great because there is less data to send, and that means speed. And HTTP operates on (TCP) Port 80 by default, meaning your computer must send and receive data through this port to use HTTP. Not just any old port will do.
Secure Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTPS) for all practical HTTP. The main difference is that it uses TCP Port 443 by default, so HTTP and HTTPS are two distinct communications. HTTPS works in connection with another protocol, SSL, to transport data safely. Remember, HTTP and HTTPS don’t care how the data gets to its destination. In contrast, SSL doesn’t care what the data looks like. People often use the terms HTTPS and SSL interchangeably, but this isn’t accurate. HTTPS is secure because it uses SSL to move data.
