Are there any free online HTML validators to check the whole website in one go please?
Hi there Dez,
I don’t know the answer to your question
and cannot see the point of it.
You will, I presume, correct the errors one
document at a time rather than work on
them all simultaneously.
Perhaps I am missing some subtle requirement though.

Are you talking about this? → https://validator.w3.org/
That is a tool many of us know well, but it will validate one url at a time. What I believe the OP wants is some kind of crawler which will go through the whole site and flag which pages need some attention.
A web search does return some results for such tools, but I have not used any of these, so can’t vouch for any.
I could see the usefulness of such a tool. With a site with very many pages, doing one at a time may be tedious. If a crawler would just point out the pages that had problems, it could save a lot of time.
Totally got it one I have been using the other one mentioned here, for about 8 years, but it’s a tad tedious to go through each page of a 30 page website, for example. If anyone does know of one, please post back. Thanks.
I use the Web Developer Toolbar on Firefox. One of the options is to Validate HTML (or CSS) for the page you’re on. It still requires doing one page at a time, of course, but it does make it a bit easier to do.
As I am old and pedantic, rather than young and impatient,
I validate documents as I code them and most definitely
before publishing them.
Call me a smart arse if you like.

How about we just call you smart and maybe a bit self-disciplined.
As do I. The toolbar also has a “Validate Local HTML” option.
and not forgetting…
- Validate CSS
- Validate Feed
- Validate Links
- Validate Local CSS

Google Webmaster Tools-> Search Appearance-> HTML Improvements
does not validate but does report page anomalies which will affect your site.

I tend to use the HTML validator Firefox addon http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/ - whenever I view source via Firefox it automatically validates the page and reports any errors/warnings. Again only one page at a time though.
Maybe using the “Validate entire site” option?
That does it, but doesn’t do html5.
http://validator.w3.org/ is the free HTML validator to check the whole Website in one go.
I use the W3C validator quite often, but I have never noticed an option to use it for an entire site “in one go”.
How is that done?
Same here, I’ve never seen a way to validate the whole site that way?
