How to prevent our CD content being copied

Hi there,

I want to develop Interactive CD…

I want to know is there any way to prevent the cd from being copied by others…

At least people difficult to copy it…

Thanks in advance

You could use safedisc/secuROM and encrypt all the content stored on disc, but anybody determined to copy the content and knowledgeable will be able to bypass these protections.

Pressed CDs can have data on them outside the burn area that the program tests in order to make sure it is an original pressed disk. If someone burns a copy of the disk then that data isn’t copied to the right place on the disk and therefore the program knows that the disk isn’t an original and can prevent itself from running.

TQ…but may i know how to encrypt it…can u please tell me more details…

TQVM…

Hm, interesting! Haven’t done it before! Is there any software sample for doing it?
t.i. can any one can give link to Software, that copy safe disk?

TQ for the info…:-D…

May i ask you…

My friend has told me about the toogle…do you familiar with that??

TQ again

I’m so wonder…if so, then why people can still make pirate CD…

Please share ur knowledge and info…

TQ

Depending on the recording device you have, you will be able to make 1:1 copies of original cds/dvds.

Back in the days, Plextor made cd burners that were able to make 1:1 copies of original cd games if you knew what you were doing. Not certain which brands if any is making the same quality devices these days.

The key however is that you will need to adjust the burning software you use to not correct errors, or correct it on only a few locations of the cd etc. The reason its difficult to “copy” a cd/dvd is due to false errors that is inserted which the recorder software will automatically try to correct and by that burning a “wrong” version of the copy. Its also possible to “underburn/overburn” as well with the correct recorder and the correct media.

As with everything else regarding security, you will never get 100% secure. The cd/dvd protections used today can be broken, the key however is that only a fraction of the people is able to do so. With other words the protection is good enough.

Most “pirate cds” are not 1:1 copies, but instead contain cracked files to remove the protection used on the original.

What will be the best choice in your situation depends on what exactly the cd/dvd will contain. Is it a application, a movie etc. There is different systems depending on the content.

My best friend is a network engineer and he said that there’s really no way to stop someone from recording data. With a little elbow grease you can find programs to analyze the encryption and crack it.

If the data can be read, it can be copied I’m afraid.

One with making uncopyable CDs is to have something at a spot on the disk that is readable but which is outside of the area that the software for burning CDs can write to. Another is to create deliberate errors in the data on the disk which the normal copy software would correct so that the errors are not there on the copy. Where both these techniques are applied it requires special equipment to be able to produce a working copy.

Perhaps the simplest solution that has ever been used for preventing the copying of software is where the spftware is supplied with a dongle that needs to be plugged into the computer in order for the software to run (back when these were common they usually used to plug into the parallel port).

Hmmm…

One option is to give a hardware lock to your software… I had used this 8081 Micro controller Simulator and burner … It will install the software in your system… But will work only if you have the hardware -> a usb drive that comes along with the CD .

But I guess if original cd’s can be cracked… so can this.

Only if they duplicate theUSB drive hardware or actually manage to modify the code in the program so that it doesn’t look for the USB. Both of those options are way way harder than being able to burn a copy of a CD - they’d actually require the thief to know what they were doing which eliminates over 99% of the potential thieves.

You can use safedisk and encrypt your cd there.

Yes Sir … It does eliminate the 99% , Making it the best possible solution . Possibility - someone hacking it and providing the file for others to download ;).

there is no way to prevent others to copy a CD except you hide it!

yes…and last time i use to think some techique was good until i used that cd with soft called iso buster…
so …so far seems like no way…
by the way if answer was so easy sony would not have invested millions of dollar just for it…
lol
so seems just of knowledge of copier u can make things difficult to copy but cannot make impossible to copy…

more over if it is flash cd…
not just cd copy you should be worried about graphics…demos…modelling…and animation copy as well…hope u know about decompliers…i have seen many things being reused in many cds…esp if it is educational cd…

very nice topic, i think CD content cannot be prevented from copied unless you zip files and put a password protected.

But the recipient needs to know the password to use it and so can still copy it. So that weay achieves nothing whatever.

You can use CD LOCK 1.2.1 or WTM Copy Protection 2.01
