How to make your own video servers kind of like YouTube?

I have been using YouTube for a while now but my websites are relying heavily on my YouTube account, which to me is not stable.

I want to be able to host my own videos but I am curious what the best service is for this? Is there a hosting company solution that is just for video hosting/streaming?

For hosting videos for download/playback, you don’t need anything extra. For recording, flash video, you’ll need a flash media server.

For uploading, you can do the video conversion locally, then upload to your server.
