How to configure a URL and IP

Hello Everybody on here, All I want you guys to help me with is how to configure a URL and IP together and I have a a web interface for the URL already…Hope to hear back from you…

What do you mean by configuring a URL and IP together?

what i am try to explain is that I have a website name already and I have a public IP address, I what to configure the public IP address with the website name. can you understand me @Gandalf example like yahoo.com have a IP address and gmail.com have a IP address, and when there IP address is type in a browser it will bring out their website , but I have only my public IP address and the name i wanna use for my website and I have the web interface i want people to see as soon as my website name is configured with the IP address

You need a dedicated IP address for your website in order to do this. If you have a dedicated IP address there is no configuration required.

this process is called rDNS (reverse DNS). you would have to configure the router that maps the IP to your server to set an rDNS entry for your domain name. usually this is made by the owner of the router (which may or may not be yourself).

@Dormilich, I was wondering if that is what he meant too. Or if he simply is trying to setup an A NAME record.

@tualinks, is this a new domain name only to be used with the IP address you want it to use? Or is it an existing site that should function where it is, but also needs to redirect to said IP when a request is made for a specific section of the site?

I’m a bit confused on what it is you are actually trying to achieve.
