I’m not aware of character limits, but some are considered to have an optimum length range.
For example title and description should not be too long or short.

As far as SEO goes, the only Meta tags you need to use are title and description.

As you seem to be new to SEO, I’d recommend you read Google’s “Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide”, which will give you all the basic information, including how to write good title and description text.

meta title need at least 60 to 70 characters and meta description need 160 characters for search engine results because these meta tags appear in the Google results.
Although, social meta title and description have separate character limits which we are not including here.

I think you mean at most. Google says:

Page titles should be descriptive and concise. Avoid vague descriptors like “Home” for your home page, or “Profile” for a specific person’s profile. Also avoid unnecessarily long or verbose titles, which are likely to get truncated when they show up in the search results.
