Help with divs

hello!

i have Problem with two dives apdiv5 and apdiv6 They went down (i think I deleted someting i don’t no what)
sending files

thanks galia

apDiv3 is 526px high and apDiv5 & apDiv6 follow straight afterwards as expected. What problem do you have with that? Is that not what you expected?

Note that in your codepen you have posted a lot of html in the css section that shouldn’t be there but is unlikely to have anything to do with your question but should be tidied up anyway.

Are you saying that the divs apdiv5 and apdiv6 have taken a dive?

(I guess you know that you should make a backup of your code before making changes.)

The rendered positions of the divs look OK to me. They seem to be in the right place according to the tinypic image. But they were in the right place for me before, too.

I see that you are still using border-width: (thin|medium|thick) instead of pixels, so maybe that is part of the problem… again. Hard to say.

hello!

so what to do with apdiv5+6 is not in there place mabe it’s becuse the swf file (apdiv2) is push them down what to do?
before it was good even i use border like ron said now it look like that just in crome but in explorer it’s good

thanks galia

nono29,

Your CodePen looks the same to me in Firefox and Chrome. Can you post a screenshot showing how it looks to you in Chrome?

The flash object appears to be inside apDiv3. apDiv2 is not in the HTML. How is it added?

hello!
I do not know why also maybe i think he was create to push down apdiv5+6 but i do’nt find it
here what he look in chrome

what to do?
and did you know about flashplayer becuse i do’nt see my flash movie after i save

thanks galia

Creating a div to push down another div is not usually the best way to go about things. Margins and padding are generally a better way to go.

I have replied to this question in your other thread. Are you sure that the filepath in your code is correct? Is your movie saved in a folder called imges, as your code says?

hello!

so what you suggest to do with the divs Exactly that can be fix ?
and for the flash movie yes is saved in floder that called images and the code is correct

what to do?

I don’t understand what the problem is, or what you’re trying to achieve, so I’m afraid I can’t help you there.

No, the code is not correct. Did you read my reply in your other thread? In you codepen code, you have this line:

<param name="movie" value="imges/open animaton.swf" />

If the folder is called “images” then you need to change that line to read

<param name="movie" value="images/open animaton.swf" />

hello!
i do what you said in the flash code if it works
and for the divs there not in place if do in chrome (apdiv5+6)

thanks galia

You keep saying that the divs are not in place, but you haven’t explained properly what the problem is. Paul, Ron and I have all looked and we can’t see anything amiss. Please explain clearly (1) what you want to happen and (2) what is happening that is different from what you want.

You have a container div with a fixed height of 1200px. Inside that, you have 6 divs, each with a fixed height, which in total add up to 1191px. That really doesn’t leave much room for movement. (I’m sure you’ve been told this already, but setting fixed heights on everything is really not a good approach to web design.)

hello!
first i want like i am looking in explorer that is good it look like that in chrome
in chrome ap div 5+6 swipe down from the container and not in place
and about fixed heights that what i learn.
what to do?
and what about ap div 2 do i have to delete it?
and about my flash movie i don’t see it even i change it to images

sending files again

thanks galia.

This is what your CodePen looks like in Chrome 34, Firefox 29, and Internet Explorer 11.

Chrome 34
Firefox 29
Internet Explorer 11

I do not see that in your CodePen example. (see images above)

Your learned something bad.
LEARN SOMETHING NEW!!!

Find a friend nearby who can come to your house and show you how to do whatever it is you wish to do. With so little information, there is nothing more we can do except continue to GUESS.

At the very least, it might be helpful to have someone with you who speaks English so we can communicate better.

I do not know because I do not understand what you are trying to do nor how.

Neither do I.

What is the absolute path on your PC or server to the images and to the flash object?
(something like this…)
c:/somedirectory/mywebsite/images/

If you do not know where the flash object and the images are located on your PC or server, we cannot help you.

How are you writing your code? Dreamweaver? Text Editor? Or did you copy it from somewhere and try to adapt it?

Can you post a link to your site on a server?

Last resort: If you cannot post a link to your site, then you can include ALL of your code in a message by putting each file between “code” tags. Click the hash symbol in the message menu to make “code” tags.

First though, click the link at the bottom of my message to learn more about using “code” tags and about describing the problem CLEARLY.

Are you sure you’ve changed imges to images everywhere it occurs in your code? I have no way to tell, as you haven’t bothered to update your codepen at all. There is no point in repeatedly sending us a link to the same, unchanged code.

Also, did you read my comment in your other thread about changing the filename to remove the space?

Beyond that, I can only echo what Ron has said. Please read his reply carefully and answer all his questions, if you want further help with this.

hello!

my absolute path is
h:/Removable Disk/my html project/ images /html images( it’s on disk on key)
th flash movie is not in html images is in images

i writing the code on dreamweaver and copy it to codepen

and yes i change everyting from imge to images

i don’t have site yet( it’s a one page from my final site project that i have to give ) so i do’nt have a link but i sending again the code of the all page

and a picture how it look like in explorer

and how it look in chrome

and by the way i don’t see what it look like in explorer, firefox. and chrome that you sent to me.

thanks galia

If I run that code, it shows me

That’s pretty much what I would expect. I don’t have access to the images or the Flash video, so they cannot display, and there’s no content (apart from the marquee, which you really shouldn’t be using anyway), so no way to distinguish one div from another.

I wouldn’t expect to see the Flash player message, as I have the latest version installed.

As I’ve said before, I don’t use Flash, but it appears that you’ve omitted the data attribute in this line:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="960" height="526" id="FlashID2">

It should include data=“path/filename”. You have it included in the non-IE line:

 <object data="imges/open animaton.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="960" height="526">

but you need to correct the filepath.

And for the third time of saying this, file or folder names with spaces may cause problems, so use hyphens - or underscores _ instead.

From what you’ve said, it seems you are working on this for some kind of course. I’m not sure what you’ve been taught, but much of the code you’re using is outdated or bad practice (as you’ve been told before). You have been given a great deal of sound advice here, but you have chosen to ignore it and continue as before. It appears to me that you are not interested in learning correct practices, simply in getting a project completed to hand in. If you want to continue with web design, then you must start to learn proper coding practices for yourself, not just accept whatever Dreamweaver turns out. At the very least, as you’ve already discovered, if you don’t understand the code you will be unable to fix things if anything goes wrong.

There are many people on this forum willing and able to help others learn, but you need to demonstrate an actual willingness to learn and to accept the advice you’re given. If you don’t, you’re simply continuing to produce bad code and then ask others to fix the problems for you. You’ll find people will soon lose interest in doing that.

Your code presentation is most helpful. Thank you.

Is there another stylesheet involved, or is the CSS at the top of this page copied from this stylesheet?

<link href="style 2.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

(The name of the stylesheet should NOT contain a space.)

It appears to me that the screenshots were taken at different zoom levels (percentages of magnification) in Chrome and IE. Neither of them at 100%. They cannot be accurately compared as they could if both were 100%.

In the interest of presenting a working copy of your code, in your next message, would you please upload the images that you are using. The goal is to make it possible for us to see exactly what you see.

Ditto, ditto, ditto the problem with the paths and filenames repeated by TechnoBear. The safest way to create a path is to use directory names and target object names (eg. images) WITHOUT spaces… NO SPACES… and surround the full path with quotation marks.

I do not know why the screenshots that I posted are not visible. Essentially, they look the same as TechoBear’s, though. There is no way to tell what might be pushing what unless we add background colors, outlines, or borders and you should be doing that to test your code.
