Have i got to start all over again?

I require some help or advice please,i bought i small site about a year back Scepd.Net i mainly bought it for the short domain but it was originally a small proxy site but today i transferd it over to a URL Shortening site i had done some initial SEO promoting of the site in it original form but would i have to start all over again and start promoting it like a new site again or would the search engines pick up that the script had changed so that in theory i would just carry on as if nothing had happened.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this one please its in Googles search result and i am just going to transfer the veryfying codes etc over later today oe would i have to get another new verifying code ???

I just hope i dont have to start it all over again. Thanks

Hi Rick,

I hv confirmed it from Google. You dont need to re-verify your verification code. You just create a new sitemap & submit it to Google.

Hope this helps fast.

So in theory what you are saying is put a new verify code on the site or the old one will do could you clarify that one please,i might as well just change it for a new one i guess.

Hi Rick,

I don’t think so that you have to do it all over again. Untill & unless your url remains same no need to resubmit it to the Search Engines. You have just modified the content of the website from proxy site to some url shortening services. So I believe that there is no need to do SEO stuffs all over again coz search engine bots will soon crawl your new venture in its next index.

All you need to do is the verification code which you get, after signing up for webmaster tool needs to be re-verified. You can do it with in a seconds.

Hope this helps

@Paid Surveys if you had read my last post i mentioned that i was lucky and i did not have to start all over again, google was kind to me on this occasion and my site was all right !!!

Yep sorry to say you’ll have to start over. It’sa common problem when people change from say a html site to an asp or php site and all the backlinks pointing to those pages become useless overnight

Well i am very pleased the url shortening site went much better than i had hoped for, after we changed the scripts over all we even added the old google verfy code and the site has not seen any major set back in any way. They seemed to have picked up the transfer but have not penalized me.

I am a very happy chappie
