Gmail emails not being received?

I have been noticing a significantly less amount of replies whenever I email people lately. I have confirmed with several people as well, saying the email i sent is neither in their inbox or spam box. has anyone else heard of this, or had this problem before?

Have a look at my reply to someone who was being hammered by spam emails.

Basically, I’ve had situations where people would reply to emails I sent from my gmail account, but the reply was never received and never made it into junk/spam folders… it’s as if gmail just entirely blocked the replies.

Never did find a real solution for it… I just changed to a different email address (not gmail), and replies were coming through just fine.

It seems like a rather bad thing for gmail to take it upon itself to not even send an email to one of your email folders.
At least if they end up in the Trash you have a chance to find it.

Are you sure there isn’t a setting somewhere instructing gmail to do this?

just to clarify, it is the emails I’m sending from gmail are not being received by several people … not even their spam boxes!

Have you tried sending emails to yourself?

If your email is moushi@gmail.com try sending email to moushi@gmail.com and CC to m.oushi@gmail.com, mou.shi@gmail.com, mous.hi@gmail.com, moush.i@gmail.com.

You could also try the BCC option.

Yes, I have tried emailing myself and it works. i tried emailing my wife to her hotmail and yahoo and they never came through though. the same goes with msn, charter, etc email accounts.

Just grabbing at random thoughts. Have you checked with any blacklist organizations to see if your email address is listed? It’s possible that either someone submitted your email address as a spammer, -OR- someone spoofed your address as the source of their spam. Just a thought.

i don’t think i can check based upon an email address … i thought that was just based on server?

I’m not sure how blacklisting works. According to this page, apparently domains or IP addresses can be used for blacklisting. I know it’s a stretch - just trying to take all things into consideration.

Emailing yourself vs emailing your wife - I’m not sure if sending an email to yourself actually goes outside the source domain to be delivered; or if it’s handled entirely internally. I’ve never bothered to look that one up.

Are you using a gmail address? Or does gmail handle the email service for your domain?

I am using a gmail address. i thought it was super reliable, but it has been giving me nightmares!

If it were just one person, or even two people, who were not receiving your emails, then the problem would most likely reside with them.

But if this is EVERYONE that you send emails to are missing them, and they are not being put into spam/junk folders, then the issue most likely is on Googles end… they may not even be getting to the SMTPout.

I’d file a helpdesk ticket with Google, explaining in full detail what is happening. I’d also search Google to see if anyone else has had this same issue.

I think it’s a commonly known issue where gmail marks emails as spam where the traffic source is not known / low cred. So if it comes form an outlook mailbox, great. But your web app’s mail server, not so great. Still getting my head around it.

Using a third party carrier such as Mailchimp is a workaround.
