Fonts - Royal Free

Is Font Squirrel the only site where I can find Royalty Free/Commercial Free fonts ?

I’m only asking because I’m hoping someone knows specifically of some places, because of the hordes of font sites you don’t really know !

Thanx !

fontspace.com might be another site to check. Also, be sure to occassionally do a search at myfonts.com. Along with their paid fonts, there’s always a handful of free fonts for both personal and commercial use…usually easiest to search by tag…

Hi Siberian,

I’ve used dafont.com in the past, they have some free for personal/commercial use and donation use also, some really nice ones too even the unrestricted ones! But as a rule of thumb I always credit my sources, it’s only fair! :agree:

Thanxs for the links  Hopefully I find a few fonts from those sites that are Commercial and Royalty free for use

Many font providers offer free fonts, either on rotation or a permanent listing. If you are using the fonts with @font-face you will need to check the terms of use, most free fonts still have licensing regulations you need to follow, or they may only be free for desktop/local use.

Another source with some free fonts is http://www.fontspring.com/free

It’s not for use with Web Dev !

As a point of correction, all font’s are by license “Royalty Free”, I don’t know of a single free or paid-for foundry which says you have to pay every time you use a typeface (which would constitute a royalty). With font’s you pay the free to download the typeface, and by license you are allowed to use the font within your projects (as long as you don’t distribute it or use it outside the license). As such, by definition as you can use it without re-paying every use and instance (such as for each image), all font’s are royalty free - their just not all “free” as in freeware - that’s an entirely different thing and shouldn’t be confused.

That paragraph in which what you said there confused me

Whoops, I meant pay the FEE, not FREE  :goof:

Royalty free doesn’t make the item “free” as in for no cost, it means you only pay a one off price in order to use that item across multiple projects without incurring additional costs. And as font licenses allow you to use the typeface for more than one project without paying a royalty fee, their all royalty free.

Now I understand  Ha !
