Fake Information when Registering a Domain

Hi Everyone,
So i have bought a Hosting and registered a Domain with fake name and address.
What are current and future consequences of this action? why the require real info?
The reason behind it is that I don’t want the public to know that I own this website, I am aware of the privacy protection feature that hides my info on “Whois” but still I am not comfortable sharing my real identity even if its not available for the public.
Any thought will be appreciated.

It may vary depending on the TLD.

Any .uk domain (overseen by Nominet) requires correct contact information:

What you must do
3.1 You must:

3.1.2
give and keep us notified of your correct name, postal address, phone and email contact information. This includes responding quickly to any request from us to confirm or correct the information on the register

‘correct’

This means that the contact information you or your registrar provide us with must be good enough to allow us to contact you quickly at any reasonable time, must not be deceptive, and must clearly identify you

I image that other domain authorities have similar rules, as you are entering into a contract by registering a domain.

ICANN certainly seems to have similar requirements: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/benefits-2013-09-16-en

Apart from running into difficulties if you have violated the terms of registration, you will also have problems if you ever need to prove that you are, in fact, the registrant. I’d strongly recommend using correct information and a privacy protection service, if you feel you need to.

You just did by accessing the Internet. The government, your ISP and the website you are accessing all have information on you. Whether the information is correct is up to them. But they still have your information whether you want them to or not. Now. What is your next move?

Thank you @TechnoBear, My TLD is .com and it does require correct info if i am at one point of time need to prove ownership. Cant afford to lose my Domain. Will update my contact info. Thanks again.

As long as you give a valid credit card they don’t care about the rest.

@olih not the case with me, 2 days ago they refunded they money I paid for domain and hosting and requested a Verification by asking for a valid ID or bank statement. Until those were provided my account was on hold. In addition they also asked to update the phone number as the one I used was fake.

As per ICANN regulation, you need to have proper address or they can suspend your domain.
