Dreamweaver or Wordpress...?

Im designing a search engine for a specific niche. Its quite easy to use.

Front page then results listing linking to different content pages.

Ive been doing it all in Dreamweaver and was quote happy then someone through a spanner in the works and told me that wordpress is better to do it in…?

Really…? It seems you cant design as much in Wordpress.

For a search engine, that comments wont be added to, only content and ads on there what do you guys think is my best option…?

Im gonna start finalising as of next week

WordPress is not an alternative to Dw as such, as they are totally different tools. Dw is a code editor, WP is a content management system.

It depends on what the site reuires, but if you need content management, be careful to check out all the options available rather than just jump on the WP bandwagon. WP is primarily for blogging, and it doesn’t sound like that’s what you want.

CMSs basically streamline the adding in of content, but if you are happy to hand code everything and manually enter content, then Dw is fine.

From your description it’s not really clear what your site needs are.

I think itll probably be in dreamweaver as it sounds a bit more of what I want. Perhaps I can add a blog to the website when its up and running.

I just asked as the search part of the website will be written in php/mysql using wamp

OK, though WAMP is basically designed to reside on your own computer. Will you be using your own computer as your web server? Or will you just build everything in WAMP and then upload all the PHP etc. stuff to the web?

Itll be uploaded to an external server, written in wamp on my comp, is that cool to do???

Yes, that’s fine. I was just checking that you knew what WAMP is. It’s a mini server on your computer. But of course you don’t upload WAMP to the remove server; just any files/code you create on your computer and run in WAMP for testing purposes.

I prefer Wordpress over pretty much any other CMS, except maybe MODx. Has anybody had much success with it? We’ve used it a lot for our development. Themes are so easy to create with it, so I’d definitely recommend it.

If you are creating a site different from blog, you can use Joomla as a CMS

hey, I think you are not clear here, what you want…
I mean Dreamweaver are for code or for designing web pages of the site which you upload after creating the site by purchasing a domain then web hosting and all such steps…
while Wordpress is something by which you deal online I mean like take an example if you are creating a Blog then you can create it online by the help of Wordpress you don’t need to purchase space , differently for it.
