Does company providing franchising needs website?

Basically, I want to understand, what is the website strategy for companies(big and small) providing franchise business model. What are the reasons to have a websites for this company.
For example, if company A. provide franchising to companies B. ; C. ; D. ; E. ; What should be website strategy for company A.? What are the reasons for this company to have a website? I can think only for one reason - provide relevant information about franchising model, so more companies could join it. But is it really all? I checked the McDonald’s website and yes, basically they do just this. Of course they provide some info. how healthy the food is, some menu-list, local-shop search.
But doesn’t it better to use some sort of advertising for the company A. about the products they make? Because if companies B., C., D., E. will sell more products, the company A. will need to provide them more - so they do get benefit from it, right? Or perhaps I don’t understand how it works.
It would be much appreciated if someone will share this information, especially if you did a website for such a company as “company A.”.
Thanks,
Mike.

Hi chinookpilot welcome to the forum

Because you posted in Content so I’m not sure my post will help much.

When I go to a “main” company website, by far the two most common things I look for is product information and “location finder”

First, do they have what I’m interested in and then am I interested in getting it from them?

If so, I usually prefer to not get a shipped order from the main store so I want to see if there is someplace I can get it from nearby without waiting.

Sometimes the answer is “yes, it’s in stock” other times it’s “we can order it and it will be here in a few business days”

So in terms of content, I would say that “company A” should have a complete product list and an easy way to find companies B - n

I thought the “content” will be the most relevant, because it’s more what the website is about - what should be so interesting(the content) in the website so people would actually will to come back, for example. But I couldn’t find a way to add more categories such as “business”, also.

You’re right, the customer will like to visit a website for mainly two reasons - search for product and look for the closest store. But some supermarkets run advertising in their website, making it more complex and for this reason more expensive(for the company). So, if the benefits of the supermarket is obvious - it is done by them, for them. The same thing isn’t so obvious for company provide franchising service(such as company A.). But at the same point, I thought perhaps it does benefits from it, because if companies B., C., D., E. will sell more products, the company A. will need to provide them more - so they do get benefit from it, right? Or perhaps I don’t understand how it works.
