ColdFusion Studio - DESPERATE

HI All-

I have to admit that I use ColdFusion Studio for my CF programming. Recently I purchased a new computer for the first time in 5 years that runs Windows 7. Unfortunately after 2 moves in the last 5 years I can no longer find my serial number to install my copy of ColdFusion Studio 5.

I have spent the past month trying to find another way get CF Studio on my computer and have tried many other editors, including Dreamweaver (which I am using right now and HATE). The only copy I could find to buy was CF Studio 4.5 that was available on Ebay. But after I purchased it and FINALLY got it installed and running - when I FTP into any server the folders all display, but none of the files.

I REALLY hate asking this but I’m hoping that someone out there has a serial number for ColdFusion Studio 5 that they can share with me. I would never ask this and have had a lot of inner turmoil about it - but I am DESPERATE!!

You don’t have any idea of how much this would help me out! Thank you in advance if you can help me!

Thanks,
Angela Jones

Hi Angela. Welcome to SPF! Why not use Coldfusion 9. The developer edition is free

donboe - Thanks so much for your quick reply!

Isn’t ColdFusion 9 just the language application for install on a server/local machine to run CF pages on that server? What I need is a CF Editor - for editing the code…

With editing code you mean CF code? or you need an html editor?

Coldfusion code editor.

I’ve been using CF Studio forever and love it, but cannot find any other editor that has the same features - it seems that the evolution of CF Studio to apps like Dreamweaver have lost a lot of the features I want because they have gone to more graphical oriented design.

I had the same problem where I lost my Coldfusion Studio serial number. Macromedia/Adobe updated Homesite to work almost exactly like ColdFusion Studio. I have been using Homesite ever since. You may want to check it out and see if it will work for you.

Thanks Freudian_Slip, I downloaded, but can only find the Trial edition. After much research, I found out you can no longer purchase Homesite since 2009 …

If anyone has a copy of the full version of homesite - I’d also be open to that!

Hi Angela,

Have a look at CFEclipse:-

It’s an Open Source ColdFusion editor. Same platform as ColdFusion Builder but with none of the cost.

Well supported by the community and it’s my main tools  (has been for a few years now).

There is also CFTextMate - http://cftextmate.andyjarrett.co.uk/

I’ve never used it myself but it’s an active project.

Cheers,
James

I’ve been using ColdFusion Builder (with a CF9 Developer backend) and I love it. You can download it and try it for free for 30 days ($300USD) It has a lot of advanced CF-based functionality the DW CS5 doesn’t offer. I tried CFEclipse and was lost in a myriad of what seemed to be well over 500 settings.

It’s an editor for CF, that’s all it is; and it does it well.

I’m on your side in this one! I love love love CF Studio, and have used it since I started programming CF in 2000. (no, that’s not a typo! lol )

I just installed it about 10 minutes ago on my new work computer, though admittedly I am having a bear of a time getting CF to run - I haven’t installed it in about 5 years on anything so I’m a “bit” lost.
