Buying from registrar before going into redemption period

You know, it takes some time before a domain name goes into redemption period after expiration. between these dates, has anyone tried to talk to the registrar and buy that domain before it goes into redemption period ?

is it possible ?

try to “auction” an expired domain

That is correct.
@OP: Each domain name which are going to expire is followed by the army of domainers. If you are really intersted in domain name better contact the owner before expiration date.

yeah, good answer. I realized name.com does it well. seems now it’s not enough to follow the domains which are in redemption period. you need to follow all domains which expired.

I assume this a revolution. but the question is why no one talks about it? nobody has realized. according to above 2 comments, even advanced users are not aware of it. or nobody wants to spread the word yet? collecting all for themselves?

well it’s.

sure? seems not as it happens.

Somewhat yes. Many registrars nowadays try to “auction” an expired domain
before letting it go into redemption, either so-called inhouse (like NameJet for
eNom and Network Solutions) or through partnerships (SnapNames for Moniker
etc.).

Ask the one in question how they’ll “treat” such expired domains, although its
web site might spell it out somewhere.

It is not possible for others to buy a domain till redemption period is not over.
Good luck.

Hi,

The whole idea of the redemption period is so that the original registrant has another chance to not loose their domain - so I would imagine any registrar that did a side deal with you would be breaking their contract with the registrant and quite possibly their ICANN agreement as well.

Thanks,
