Blog has disappeared following a errored out theme install

I am not sure what I can give you to look at, but here goes. I have a 50 blog site - it seemed quite reasonable at the time, really! I was interested in learning how to customize or develop themes, and I had collected about a hundred themes that I liked parts of. I thought that to really see what they would look like as actual blogs, they should have some entries because they would if someone was really using them. Soon after I put them up I became ill and have been in and out of the hospital, so the project has sat since April or May 2010. For some reason people have started finding them and posting comments (some actual comments and not just for a backlink), and I have been trying out new themes when I go to deal with the comments.

I installed a theme that errored out, so I went into cPanel and deleted that theme’s file, thinking that Wordpress would replace it with another theme and I would be fine. Alas, no. What happened was that instead of getting an error message, I now had a blank page. I tried re-installing Wordpress, but still a blank page - the other blogs are fine.

I wound up deleting the whole directory and then creating a new directory with the same name as the previous one. I had had 2.9.2 on it originally, so I upgraded to 3.2.1 for the new install (FTP thru Filezilla). I still had a blank page. Then I deleted the contents of the directory, but not the directory itself and installed 2.9.2, but that didn’t get me anywhere, either.

I have stared at my index page code, but that hasn’t changed. I compared the config.php file that doesn’t show up with one of the ones that is ok (blog 18) and I can’t see any difference except for the blog name. Did I break something by deleting the whole directory, even tho the new one has the same name? I have another one with a broken theme, so I will need to know what to do, so I would like to fix that one without losing it (and don’t I wish that I had written down which one that was!).

The blogs are on Genie123.com and the blank one is number 19 (I know, I was so creative with the names - I see that the new Internet Explorer has messed with the spacing of the index page, so I will have to find out how to fix that too (but that is another forum, not a Wordpress page). The main page of Genie123 looks ok in Firefox, but embarrassingly awful in the new Explorer (was ok in the last version of Explorer - I didn’t have enough to work on apparantly).

Can you help me, please? Thank you.

I use Bluehost.com to host my sites. They have an article about the causes of the “White Screen of Death”. I tried to follow the directions, but it sent me into PhpMyAdmin, and I just didn’t recognize anything there. I wound up throwing myself on their mercy and they fixed it. They told me that it was looking for the default theme for WordPress 3.2.1, so they set something back to default. Anyhow, it is now working and with all of the data intact.
