Audio streaming server comparisions

Would you please let me know a better audio streaming server?
Is there a comparison of audio streaming servers?

The audio comes from an FM radio station on air.

The main aim is to send the radio program to the streaming server in order to relay them to the multiple listeners.
It will save the bandwidth between listeners and radio station.
The new radio listening point is between listeners and streaming server (multiple connections).
And the FM station will continue sending/uploading (single connection) to the streaming server only; not to the listeners directly.

How is it priced?
What encoders should be there?
How can I bring up this solution?
Any other better ways?

I welcome your suggestions.

What’s your budget and what range of devices do you need to support?

It is probably around $200/your for the upload/broadcast service usage they are using currently via some ISP; excluding the hardware cost. All they need is a improved version. They want to remake it newly and discard the existing services. The development and hardware setup cost should be additional.

I have found few links like Shoutcast and Wowza http://www.serverroom.us/shoutcast and http://www.wowza.com/
But no idea on how to use them.

Wowza is an excellent bit of software but not particularly cheap. If you want to embed a streaming player in a web page it’s the best option, it can create an rtmp stream for a flash player and then also create a mobile stream from the same source. You can get amazon EC2 instances of it, so you can try it out short term. It’s more advanced and requires greater resources than shoutcast/icecast. Shoutcast/icecast will provide a basic mp3 stream that will open in a media player, but isn’t really suited to embedding an ‘in page’ player.
