I have bought this book (Build Your Own Database Driven Web Site Using PHP & MySQL by Kevin Yanks, 4th Edition) & have tried to install the Apache program on my Win Vista laptop. There are no error messages, but it will not connect. It seems to be looking for a connection, but cannot find what it is looking for. I have been trying to make this work for four weeks now, and have tried different things, but it still does not work. I have tried other tutorials on doing this, and even bought other books on doing this, but it still does not work.
This is an apache question and not a mysql question. You’ll need to post in the correct forum.
That said see this site for instructions in setting the three tools up to work together.

maybe you should be installing IIS on vista instead of apache?
