I think most of the reported issues could have been found by testing the demo (I assume they had a demo, otherwise buying just a list of features is non-sense). There are always big differences from what you imagine and expect from a package, what the developers intended and how the software really works.
In this type of situation sometimes you can recover your money but you’ll never recover additional costs as your own efforts and time spent with the project.
When buying a script better test twice and report the bugs before paying so they fix it. There is no such thing as a perfect software - even windows needs bug-fixes and patches but some packages are ridiculous. You can blame them but you must also blame yourself and learn from this: you’re the only one responsible for your success.
It´s working fine her, i do have this problem “3. Links to photos in the image folder that dont exist.” As writen in the topic nr. 1, and i can not solve that…
OK I went ahead and installed the e-friends since my client already spent the money. I got the install done and the customer service people at alstrasoft did respond to some minor problems I had with the install. Let’s see if they help with the problems that come up with their script.
I hate to be the odd-man out here, but Alstrasoft was actually pretty helpful.
I had 4 help tickets and they helped with each one, although 2 tickets had be be resent in order to get a response.
They sent me new scripts for the ones that I couldn’t fix myself. They also helped me troubleshoot my own errors with my variables. Some of the problems were related to the shared hosting account I use and required a little tweeking, but considering that I’m am not a web designer by trade and I was able to get the sofware installed and working thus far is testement to E-Friends in itself.
I help run a Urban Street DJ Web Radio in Miami, FL and I’m going to switch from using Ning.com to Alstrasoft.
They’re still security issues with E-Friends, So be careful but so far It works for me. It just requires a little extra paitence and effort. What else would you expect for only $280.00
I wasn’t smart enough to do a research about this company before I bought the e-Friends software and paid for it $250 ( 5 days ago).
I downloaded the software, unpacked it and followed their instruction to install it.
First problem i got, when i ran the SQL script, the DB was created ok, but when i ran the zipdata script i got an error, in the script the Table was called zipData, while the table in the DB was named zipdata, at this point i did not think much , i thought it could be a glitch when they created this script, i fixed this issue and the DB was updated ok.
2nd i uploaded the files to my Server and nothing worked.
can not do much, when i try to create a new user even when i type the user name and press on check if available i get a message saying type a user name first…
I thought i need first to login as admin and perform setup form ACP, but i could not get to the admin login page. I contacted Alstrasoft and they replied in few minutes asking for link to phpinfo.php on my site, i sent the link, waited about 12 hrs, then re-contact them some other person ( different name in the email) asked again for phpinfo link… and i sent it again. While waiting for the reply. I decided to install the script on a test server, and i did, i bought few domains from Goddady and had free websites with them, so i installed the script on their server , and i got little further, i wasn’t able to login as admin, but i did create a new user, and was able to login as this user, but the script is so Buggy and unbelievably unstable… I could not use most of the functions… I contacted Alstrasoft again and again and … then i knew something wrong in here … DUHHHHH, i goolged Alstrasoft and got here…
ah well i guess this is a lesson for me, i will be much more careful in the future.
Now i am stuck with this useless software, i don’t have the choice but to try to make it work.

The software does indeed work and their customer service was helpful albeit slow. You may have to work with your hosting company and make sure they can support E-friends
Actually, as you said, they are a bit slow, they contacted me and offered to install and setup the software at no extra charge. , I think they are trying to fix their reputation…
The thing is i host the site on my own dedicated server, and my server meet the requirements posted on their site.
Anyway, i hope they will be able to get it running, meanwhile i already installed PHPizabi and trying it and if the e-Friends works i will compare both and decide which one to go with, so far i am impressed with what PHPizabi offers.
Hey its kinda funny now reading everything just wish i read this before i bought my scripts from alstrasoft ! But i have fixed most of their bugs and then modified their scripts to what i wanted, their videoscript gave me the most troubles no support from the crack head mike terry at alstrasoft and most of the complaints ive read i went thru repeat emails with required info they kept asking for and now they use another crook scammer to take your money WWW.SWReg.org google them and complaints or nightmares they are known for getting your credit card then doing unauthorized charges and they do this offer for back up registration its a scam u dont need it. WWW.SWReg.org makes it seem like your protected from buggy scripts and youd be able to get a refund if you had a problem well they are just as bad as alstrasoft a US based company thats ripping us off and protecting a scam company like alstrasoft
And i started a website over WWW.SWReg.org and alstrasoft so please help warn consumers and post your complaints on there also WWW.BBBofEcommerce.com
By the way maybe i should just open my own site and get paid to fix alstrasoft’s scripts ive fixed most of their bugs and my main sites working

Thats kool how do you like phpizabi so far ? i have the same script havnt used it much yet but was thinkn of using it for the dating part of my site. I got alot of the efriends bugs worked out and same with videoshare it just takes alot of patience and messing with their buggy code ! I made a site to warn people also of alstrasoft and WWW.SWReg.org WWW.BBBofEcommerce.com every one needs to add their complaints there too the more complaints the more it will cost alstrasoft! And Warn other consumers by the way everyone beware of www.REVO.com its alstrasoft rebranded!!! Oh and i got the funniest email ive ever read from mike terry at alstrasoft i told them i wanted a refund and i wanted to get datecomms script if you only saw his responce he was saying datecomm stole their script from alstrasoft when there are so many people saying alstrasoft stole their scripts ! I dont think datecomm is the way to go with either people they dont have the scripting finished it seems incomplete no email area no pic comments cant change friends just lots of missing needed parts for todays times. My efriends is more my own scripting then alstrasofts now same with videoshare. but then again its been hundreds of hours redoing their crap!
