Changed to context of the web page

I have an established web site for about 5 years which is PR4.
I’m wondering what would happen if I completely changed to context of the web page,
with regards to indexing already done by Google, Yahoo, etc.?

Well, your PageRank (PR) is a value reflecting your back-links - not your content.

So if you changed your content(context?) then you’d only see a difference in where your pages rank for their keywords.

In addition to what seriocomic says, the inbound links you have give more benefit if they are related to your content. If your “Wordpress theme” site changes its content to be about “potty training cats”, those links won’t have as much value. Also, there is the danger that the owners of the linking sites remove those links. If those links are removed, then your PR will go down, as will your rankings (all else remaining the same).

I’m working on the assumption that you meant “content” when you said “context” though.
