Notice: This is a discussion thread for comments about the SitePoint article, Portable Apps: A Mobile Office For A Desktop Computer.
__________ There is one very good reason why you should not do it. If it is lost or stolen, you have a potentional disaster on your hands. The source code for your clients web sites and applications will be there, and any other information you have stored about the clients. This would be very bad if you store login information on it as well. If you want to use it, at least encrypt the USB stick with a software like DriveCrypt. |

Very cool concept especially as regards doing a behind-the-scenes demo for a client. Some like to know whats under the hood.

I love the portable development concept.
I have been using a 40GB USB drive for over a year. |

This is certainly fantastic, although encrypting your drive is a good call as well.
