As long as there is a majority of people using such browsers, it's only prudent to keep supporting them, I would argue that any person who drops support for the browser when that version alone still holds arguably a majority share (more so than Safari, Chrome AND Opera together) is ignoring their audience. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the idea of perpetuating the cycle however it's simply a numbers game and as it stands 23% of people is just under 1/4 of all your traffic (if those statistics are accurate), and that's a huge number of people your potentially inflicting the issues upon. Most IE6 users cannot do anything about their predicament as it's entirely down to business environments

I agree with this - I'll continue supporting it as long as the stats show it is significantly used. Of course, I'd love for it to drop off the face of the earth (and IE7, then we will be left with IE8 which is excellent at its standards support)

100% on the money (as usual).

On my website, IE6 is a bit below Safari, but well ahead of Chrome, Opera and all mobile and unknown browsers combined. If you're going to make any effort to support 400 mobile users, it's a bit perverse to lock out 13000 IE6 users.

But the original question is ambigulous. What do you mean by "drop support"? I will accept an output that doesn't look quite right in IE6, where some elements don't line up quite right, or where certain non-essential features don't work (and I have done that for years) - but I will ensure that the website is fully usable in IE6.

Same here. There's a difference between "doesn't look quite as good as it could" and "unusable."
